Our seventh class has two well known Tech Industry veterans Ken Denman who is a board member of Costco, Motorola Solutions, Mitek and Lending Club and Carol Mills who is a board member of Zynga, RELX and previously Adobe, Xactly, Bluecoat, Ingram Micro and White Hat Security.

Carol and Ken have both held senior positions in large multi national corporations, successful stints as CEO’s of public companies and startup companies through the IPO offering and or negotiated successful acquisitions.

Carol’s presentation was titled High Performing Boards, which included board selection process, boards skills matrix, best and worst board practices and effective board agenda’s. The relationship between Chairman/ CEO and Lead Director and members of the board were very effective teaching points. Carol also covered board problems to watch out for and the board evaluation process. The Students had dozens of questions with great interaction with Carol’s incredible teaching moments.

Ken with incredible experience as a very successful CEO, a venture capitalist, and startup’s through the IPO process or successful acquisition and now a board member of big public companies had everyone’s undivided attention. He is a perfect instructor for our class’s mission. He talked about the effectiveness and how and why a good board functions including the common traits and of course what goes wrong and the multiple ways to find the solution.

These two experienced Directors were big hits with the class.

Thank you Carol and Ken!
